Depending on how you use Settlwise, we may collect:

• account details such as your name, email address, and login credentials;
• shared expense content such as groups, bills, participant names, notes, tags, and balances;
• device, browser, IP address, and log information for security and performance;
• support and communication records when you contact us;
• subscription and transaction information from our billing providers.

Settlwise is designed around user-provided shared expense information. We do not require users to connect bank accounts in order to use the core service.

We use information to:

• provide the Settlwise service and keep group data synchronized;
• authenticate users and protect account security;
• process subscriptions, billing, and customer support requests;
• send service messages, reminders you configure, and product updates;
• monitor reliability, troubleshoot issues, and improve the product;
• comply with law and enforce our Terms.

We may share information in the following situations:

• with service providers that help us host, secure, support, or bill the product under contractual confidentiality obligations;
• with other participants in the groups, bills, or shared spaces you invite them into, as needed for the product to function;
• when required by law, legal process, or a valid government request;
• in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate protections.

We do not sell personal information to data brokers or ad networks.

Settlwise uses cookies and similar technologies for session management, authentication, security, remembering preferences, and understanding basic product usage.

Some cookies are essential for the service to work. Others may support performance measurement or product improvement. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may affect product functionality.

Subscription payments are processed by third-party billing providers. We do not store full payment card numbers on Settlwise servers.

We may receive limited billing metadata such as payment status, subscription plan, renewal dates, and partial payment method details needed for receipts, account support, and dispute handling.

We keep account and shared expense information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

If you request account deletion, we generally delete or de-identify the associated personal information within a reasonable period after the request, unless we must retain some information for legal, security, accounting, or fraud-prevention reasons.

Settlwise uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, encryption at rest, access controls, and monitoring appropriate to the size and nature of the service.

No security measure is perfect, and no system can guarantee absolute security. Users should also protect their own devices, credentials, and account access.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

• access, correct, or delete certain personal information;
• request a copy of information associated with your account;
• object to or restrict certain processing in limited circumstances;
• opt out of non-essential marketing emails.

Settlwise is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under the minimum age required under our Terms. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Settlwise, contact us and we will review the request.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product, legal requirements, or data practices evolve. If the changes are material, we will post the updated policy here and may provide additional notice through email or in-product messaging.
